Scouts BSA Summer Camp

Two separate weeks of themed adventures await Scouts this summer! Get ready for Marksmanship Specialty Camp and Trek Liberty! Plus, the return of Garden State Council’s high adventure in the Pines: Kuweiki Trek Camp, now offering two separate weeks of programming!

Check out the preliminary details below. This page will become our main hub for Scouts BSA summer camp options and resources as plans develop!

Traditional Resident Camp

LOST LEGENDS Scouts BSA Resident Camp at Joseph A. Citta Scout Reservation (CSR), Jersey Shore Council

Get the traditional resident camp experience (large lake, 70+ merit badges, etc.) for your Troop at CSR this summer and look for “Lost Legends” including New Jersey’s official cryptid, the Jersey Devil. Garden State Council Troops will enjoy “in council” pricing at this neighboring Jersey Shore Council camp.

Citta has 3 weeks in July to choose from. Among the unique features of their program is a “3D Archery” course as well as “cowboy action” range.

Specialty Camps at Pine Hill Scout Reservation

These specialty camps feature a pre-defined merit badge list integrated into the week-long program. Participant limits are kept low, so each Scout is guaranteed attention by the merit badge counselors and quality time exploring the specific area of interest.

Each week features two different camps, so Troops can choose a week and their Scout can pick the specialty focus they like best. These camps are also ideal for provisional Scouts interested in adding a specialty camp week to their Troop’s other summer adventures.

Camp Physicals for Less

Garden State Council has entered into an agreement with AtlantiCare to save Scouting families money when they visit an AtlantiCare Urgent Care Center for their camp physical. Click the AtlantiCare logo to download the flyer for details and locations.

Camperships and Fundraising

A “campership” is a grant given to a youth member to help with the expenses of attending a summer camp.

Garden State Council Camperships exist to help provide life-changing camping experiences for Scouts who, because of financial challenges, may not otherwise be able to attend a summer camp opportunity.

Summer outdoor adventure changes lives through recreation, friendship and experiences; summer camp cultivates skills and values needed for success in the future.

Scouts who face financial challenges have attended camps in the past due to the support of the campership program. This is due to the generosity of Scouting alumni, community individuals and organizations, as well as, grants organized and allocated by the Garden State Council.

Therefore, the funds available in the campership program are limited. Aid can only be awarded if funds are available. Camperships are awarded based on need, so parents and unit leaders involved in completing an application are encouraged to clearly detail the need.

A Scout is Thrifty: A Scout works to pay his/her own way and help others. Camperships are not to exceed 50% of the fee.

This policy is made in consultation with and approved by the Council’s VP of Program, the Council Camping Chair and the Chair of the Campership Committee. All decisions are made by the volunteer Campership Committee.

The 2024 Campership Application window is now open. Applications are due to Council by April 15.
