ITOLS (INTRODUCTION TO OUTDOOR LEADER SKILLS) is one of the BSA courses Scoutmasters and Assistant Scoutmasters are required to attend to earn the TRAINED emblem. With ITOLS, your classroom is the outdoors; your guidebook is the BSA Handbook;, and the patrol is the method of learning. This course will enhance your skills and give you confidence to offer an outdoor program for your troop. ITOLS is a hands-on, fun filled, skill training program that is designed to help you become familiar with the basic camping skills required from Scout to First Class.

OWLS (OUTDOOR WEBELOS LEADER SKILLS) while not required to complete Webelos Leader training, if your pack is planning to take your Webelos den camping it is highly recommended you take this course. Many of the topics offered at OWLS are similar to the ITOLS curriculum so Webelos leaders will receive credit for both courses.
