The Garden State Council marketing committee works to help spread the word about Scouting in the council and to the outside community.
The Knapsack is a weekly newsletter e-mailed to all leaders and parents in the Council, sent on Thursdays. Each Knapsack contains information about upcoming events, opportunities for units within the Council, and news from the National Council. To submit an item, please email your information to TheKnapsack@gardenstatecouncil.org no later than Wednesday at noon for that week's mailing. Submission does not guarantee placement. The Marketing Specialist in the Council office is responsible for maintaining the Council's social media presence. The Council has accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube. Connect with the Council on any of these networks to see what is going on in the Council and share it with your own networks.
Media & Talent Release Form
Please make sure to have parents fill out the form anytime photos will be taken at a Unit, District or Council activity. This allows us to photograph our Scouts in action to promote Scouting in our communties. This form must be completed when announcing winners of Pinewood Derbies and other Scouting events or if you plan to release any photo/information to the media. Unit leaders should have each family fill out this form and keep it on file for the duration of the Scout's participation in the unit. See separate forms below for Adults and Youth.
Marketing Your Unit
Your unit is encouraged to host your own social media channels. For example, a Facebook Page can help promote both your unit and Scouting to your community.
