Local membership grants awarded

The Garden State Council is happy to announce the award of two membership grants to local units for the fall recruitment season! These grants will help units try innovative ideas to grow their membership, with the council picking up the tab.

Grants were opened for submission earlier this year. Seven units applied for funding, and the council wants to thank each unit that participated:

- Pack 34 Williamstown

- Pack 220 Washington Township

- Pack and Troop 1055 Tuckahoe

- Pack 159 Waterford Township

- Pack 19 Delanco

- Pack 215 Pennsville

- Garden State Council program committee

The membership and marketing committees met in July, and decided to fund two of the applications:

Pack 34 Williamstown received a grant for $850. These funds will help the pack run a community “Bounce-o-rama.” This event will provide entertainment for youth while the pack discusses Scouting with their parents. The event will include displays about Scouting and run in conjunction with the Williamstown Rotary Club’s softball marathon.

Pack and Troop 1055 Tuckahoe (and their sister units in town) received $900 to hold a Scouting carnival at Tuckahoe fire company. The event will include games and activities, and have participation from local fire companies and the NJ state police.

The results of these activities will be shared with the council later this fall, so other units can develop ideas for growing membership. If your unit has a great idea for growing membership, please share it with us, and consider applying for a grant in spring 2015 when they are awarded again.
