River Jam Change of Location Announcement

Since the inception of Garden State Council, customer service has been a top priority for the Council’s leadership. As Scouters and as leaders we place great emphasis on listening to Scouts, Scouters and community leaders looking for input on how to improve activities and program offerings.
Bearing that in mind and as result of your input, as expressed in lower than necessary levels of participation exhibited by unsanctioned cancelations by numerous units, we have decided to postpone the Council’s River Jam Camporee scheduled for the weekend of October 18, 19, 20, 2013. In place of the event, we are offering a FREE Camporee at Pine Hill Scout Reservation (PHSR) on the same scheduled River Jam weekend, October 18, 19, 20, 2013.
In order to provide for the Scouts of your unit, we are going to provide virtually all of the originally scheduled activities such as Jamboree On The Air (JOTA), Fishing, Rain Gutter Regatta, Tandy Leather, Cub Science activity, Boy Scout competitions, Blast Car program, Citizenship in the Nation Merit Badge, S.T.E.M. Activities, Religious Observances, and of course the evening entertainment program. The only activities we will not be able to offer are the hike to the National Constitution Center, and the programs involving Adventure Aquarium and Battleship New Jersey.
Realizing this is a major change, the PHSR Activity will be at absolutely no charge to your unit, regardless of whether you did or did not register for River Jam. However, due to this location change your unit will have to provide its own food in addition to tents. Cooking methods and fire limits are based on current PHSR policy and weather conditions.
To reserve you place at Pine Hill, all you have to do is send an e-mail message directly to the Garden State Council Activities Committee at: firstname.lastname@example.org advising the Committee as to your unit’s desire to attend and providing the Committee with your unit number and how many Scouts and adults will be attending as well as attaching a unit event roster. Registration for the PHSR event will be taken on a first come first served basis until midnight on Friday, October 11, 2013.
All units that plan on attending MUST register for this event by Friday, October 11, 2013. Registrations for the PHSR event will only be accepted via e-mail to the Activities Committee and will NOT be accepted at either Council office.
All of us in the Council regret any inconvenience caused by this change and will be issuing complete refunds to all units that paid registration fees towards the originally scheduled River Jam. Details on the rescheduling of the River Jam event will be available in the near future.
