Update to MyScouting Training Manager to include earlier course versions.
The MyScouting Tools Training Manager has been updated today to recognize training unit Scouters completed prior to the current Position-Specific training model (introduced in September 2001.) Leaders who took pre-Specifics training, assuming that the course code was previously entered in ScoutNET with the proper date, will now show up in Tools as “trained.”
Additionally, new codes have been added to the Training Manger for the pre-2001 legacy basic training courses that have not been previously, or correctly, added to a Scouter’s record. Rather than having to look up, or remember, the exact name or code of the course a new “101” code has been created for each phase of program for basic training completed before September 1, 2001.
Training Manager administrators can select “Cub Scout Leader Basic Training”, “Boy Scout Leader Basic Training”, “Varsity Scout Leader Basic Training”, or “Venturing Leader Basic Training” in the drop-down menu, add the exact or approximate date the Scouter completed the course prior to September 1, 2001, and the Scouter will get credit for the course. If that qualifies them (along with YPT) as “trained” for their current registered position the “trained” status will be flagged in both Tools and ScoutNET.
Hopefully this will minimize the confusion with so many similarly-named legacy basic training courses with different dates and codes, and will give us a better picture as to which leaders still need training.
