The course goal is to improve Council, District and Unit fishing programs. Sign up and you will be qualified as a BSA Certified Angling Instructor.  You will learn fundamental Fishing and Fly-fishing Skills, and how to best teach those fishing skills to Scouts & Scouters.

This is a Train the Trainer Course. This course will train you to be a BSA Certified Angler Instructor (CAI), qualifying you to train Scouters in how to deliver fishing programs to their Units. You will be qualified to teach Cane pole and Spin cast fishing to Cubs and Scouts. You will learn fishing knots, how to locate fish and how to catch & release local fish species. This course will provide you with the knowledge and confidence necessary to improve your Unit’s Program and your Council’s fishing resources.

Who should attend? Fishing is the most effective tool for recruiting Cub Scouts.  It is a favorite chosen outdoor activity by Scouts.  Want to improve your Unit’s Outdoor program resulting in better recruitment, retention, and reactivation?  Use fishing to “hook them” and keep them excited. Older Scouts combine fishing with other outdoor activities. Any Scouter who wants to up his or her Unit’s program needs to Catch the Excitement and teach Scouts to fish.
